SHR

Are you suffering from hard-to-treat (until now) annoying imperfections such as unwanted hair, acne, pigmentation, rosacea or premature aging?

Always wanted to do something about it but questioned the effectiveness of available treatment options?

Eclipse is the breakthrough answer we’ve been waiting for, a hi tech hero designed right here in New Zealand to address a whole host of skin concerns permanently, cost effectively and painlessly.

How does it work?

SHR stands for Super Hair Removal.

It is a technology of permanent hair removal which is proving very  successful.  The system combines laser technology and the benefits of the pulsating light method achieving practically painless results.  Even hairs which until now have been difficult or even impossible to be removed, can now be treated. “In Motion” represents a breakthrough in permanent hair removal with light technology.  The treatment is more pleasant than with the conventional systems and your skin is much better protected.

The sweeping technique of moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area ensures full coverage while the MAX cooling system cools the skin surface  - preventing superficial burns and allowing for virtually pain-free, yet highly effective hair removal.

SHR can also be used to treat skin conditions such as acne, pigmentation and rosacea. It can even reduce visible wrinkles, due to its collagen-boosting effects.

IPL/SHR Frequently Asked Questions.

How many treatments are necessary?

Until now hair had to be treated during the growing phase (20%-30%).
In the telogen phase stem cells are in a resting phase but can still successfully be treated with the SHR system.
Since growth cycles vary, approximately 8 treatments are usually necessary.

What will I feel during treatment?

Treatment with SHR is practically painless, compared to treatment with conventional IPL devices. The sweeping technique of moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area gives full coverage while the MAX cooling system cools the skin surface, preventing superficial burns and allowing for virtually pain-free, yet highly effective hair removal.

How are different hair/skin colours affected?

Although light skin with dark hair responds most favourably to the treatments, SHR-technology also enables the successful treatment of dark skin, removing achromous fine hairs.

How long should intervals between treatments be?

The hair growth cycle and the interval between treatments should correspond, requiring spacing of approximately 3-4 weeks.

How does this IPL system work for acne?

The system can be used for the improvement of mild to moderate inflammatory acne. This range targets a type of bacteria that colonize inside the sebaceous gland and clog it.  A photo-chemical reaction induced by the module's light, induces the photo excitation process and the destruction of the bacteria.

What about for pigmentation?

Light absorbed by melanin is transformed into heat energy. This process causes the breakdown of pigment molecules and is cleaned and by phagocytes and are also shed of by the normal process skin renewal. Transient erythema and darkening of pigment molecules can be expected.

How does it help with Vascular treatments?

The light absorbed by hemoglobin is converted to heat thereby effectively cauterizing the walls of capillaries.

And for Skin Rejuvenation?

Collagen effectively absorbs the 510/560 nm-1200 nm spectrum of light. This results selective thermolysis  of collagen resulting in heating and contraction of collagen bundles.  The retraction of collagen bundles makes this process effective in the management of fine superficial wrinkles.

Pre IPL Care

Before

- At least 1 week before the first treatment, intense sun exposure or solarium visits should be avoided.

- Hairs should not be waxed or plucked less than 6 weeks before treatment. Shaving is permitted any time.

Areas to be treated should ideally be shaved one day before the scheduled appointment.

Contraindications

- If you are currently on the medication Ro-accutane or similar or have been in the past 6 months, please let us know before each treatment session. This medication can make your skin more susceptible to damage from the treatment.

Post IPL Care

After

After your treatment, the area is cleansed and you can return to your normal activities immediately. Slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to sunburn, may occur in some patients. These effects typically last no more than 24 hours.

The skin’s natural protection is somewhat weakened after this intense light treatment. Therefore a high level of UV protection (30-50) in the form of suntan lotion should be applied for about 1 week.

After 1-5 weeks hair will fall out. Shaving is possible any time but hair should not be plucked.

Keep the area clean. Wash gently with tepid water.

Avoid the use of any possible skin irritant on the face such as the stimulant creams (Retin-A, Retinova, Glycolic Cream), Benzoyl perioxide or astringents. If the area appears red or shows any signs of tenderness, apply a soothing cream.

If you experience any persistent irritation or notice weeping, broken skin, blistering or pigmentation changes following the treatment please get in touch with us.

For 24 hours after each IPL treatment:
•    No sun exposure or UV exposure of sun beds
•    Wear sun block with both UVA and UVB protection
•    No depilatory,  AHA, glycolic or salicylic creams
•    No very hot baths or showers – tepid water only
•    No heat treatments e.g. sauna
•    No swimming in chlorinated pools or spa baths
•    No deodorant – if underarms treated
•    No perfumes, highly perfumed soaps or lotions, etc.

Long Term After-care
•    Always wear a good sun block with both UVA and UVB protection
•    Avoid excessive sun or UV exposure.  Cover up and be sun-safe.
